Otdykh-Leisure Exhibition,
Moscow - Show Report

The 8th International Trade Fair for Tourism Otdykh-Leisure 2002 was held in the splendid Olympic Sports Complex in Moscow 16-19 October and was a great success.

For first timers the Olympic Stadium is quite an unusual location for such an exhibition, however this enormous stadium offers more than 12,000 square meters of floor space, good air and one can imagine the great atmosphere of historical sports achievements.

Officially supported by the Tourism Department of the Russian Ministry for Economic Development and the Moscow City Government, Leisure continues to attract new destinations from around the world.

Participants from Paraguay, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay we amongst the new destinations represented adding to a great list of regular participants.

The Exhibition is moving towards Exotic Destinations and Winter Sun with less emphasis, it appears on skiing.

720 exhibitors from 54 countries filled this great hall, a total of 71,000 visitors were registers. 87% were trade visitors and 13% public.

The general opinion was one of great optimism and success. It was rewarding to see how much support the large contingent from Bali received from their International colleagues just a few days after their tragedy. Ironically Moscow was to suffer it's own misfortune just a few days later.

The dates for Leisure 2003 have been announced as 15-18 October and it is highly recommended to book space early as this show sells out completely.
