TITF Tashkent - Show Report

Real Uzbek hospitality for UTA President John Debono |
As part of our aim to cover all exhibitions personally and to offer an unbiased view on the exhibitions, Russian Travel Monitor decided that it was time to visit Tashkent in Uzbekistan.
The countryside is very interesting and Tashkent is a fascinating mixture of styles and cultures with extremely hospitable people.
The TITF Exhibition is held in the Uzexpocenter, which features some wonderful 'Soviet' style buildings in a beautiful park. The weather was very pleasant especially after the snow in Kiev and the cool temperatures in Moscow.
TITF is well organised and is a good exhibition but one should not arrive with too high expectations.
18 International exhibitors were present at the exhibition indicating that this could be a growing market. Exhibitors we taken by surprise by the vast number of visitors in the first two hours of this event and whilst the numbers stabilised in the afternoon it could be considered to have been a good day. The second day had very few visitors with all International participants deciding to finish after the second day.

Great interest at the Universal Tourism Stand |

Criticism was heard amongst the International participants at the excessive charges levied by these 'smaller' exhibitions. One long time expert told us, " We would love to participate more often at such events, however the prices are the same as MITT whilst the possible rewards represent less than 5% of the potential of the major exhibitions. We also notice a tendency to over-inflate the published figures relating to the number of visitors. We are experts who have been attending exhibitions for years and we know how many people attend. The Organisers should consider their pricing structures and show honesty with their statistics to establish good, International contacts.
RTM wishes the organisers success with these events.
