UITT Exhibition Kiev, Ukraine
After the MITT the circus of Eastern Europe Tourism specialists met again shortly after in Kiev.
The UITT Exhibition is much smaller but is also an important event producing significant from the Ukrainian market.
Now in a new, purpose built International Exhibition Centre UITT2003 was held 02-05 April attracting a substantial number of new participants and many others who are still exploring this market.
The show was well organised and the bright Exhibition Centre was greeted as a marked improvement on the old venue, The Palace of Sports.
Tourism is one of Ukraine's fastest growing industries, outbound travel continues to develop at a steady pace. Between the years of 1994 and 2001 more than 5,300 Ukrainian travel companies were granted tourism licenses.
With a population of 50 million, Ukraine is the largest country with the most important economy in the region after Russia. GDP growth is currently estimated at 4.1% with a further increase in 2003 to 6%. The average wages are rising and there is an increase in consumer confidence combined with a rise in disposable incomes. This will certainly result in growth in the outbound travel sector.
