MITT 2004. A report on the exhibition

The MITT 2004 Exhibition took place this year 24-27 March in the Krasnya Presnja Exhibition centre in Moscow. Founded in 1994 the MITT Exhibition ranks tird amongst the five major Tourism exhibitions worldwide.

This year 2700 companies participated in the exhibition from more than 110 countries worldwide with the increased number of both international and Russian participants growing by 18% and 12% accordingly. Total exhibition space now exceeds 36,000 m2.

For the first time this year Russia was presented as an individual section of the exhibition in Pavilion 1. Large, creative stand constructions and a high number of visitors indicates the importance of the major Russian Tour Operators especially amongst the visitors from outside of Moscow. The upper level of this pavilion was dedicated to CIS countries and Russian Inbound Tourism.

"This country has long ago become an integral part of the international tourist system. Last year Russia was again elected to chair the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organisation which comprises 143 countries worldwide" - stated Mr. V.I. Strzalkovskiy Deputy Minister of Economic Development on the Russian Federation.

During the exhibition the Russian Travel Industry Awards were presented. Some of the main winners were:

  • Best Russian Travel Agency Network - VKO Travel Club
  • Best Russian Outbound Tour Operator - UTE Megapolus
  • Best Russian Inbound Tour Operator - KMP Group
  • Best Russian Domestic Tour Operator - Orfey
  • Best Russian Airline - Transaero

The dates for MITT 2005 are 23-26 March 2005.
